Valerie Levine is a professional Belly Dancer based in New York City. She started dancing at the age of four, studying tap, jazz, modern, and ballet. She continued to dance throughout college where she expanded the styles of dance to Latin/ballroom, Brazilian samba, flamenco and belly dance primarily at the Broadway Dance Center and Alvin Ailey in New York City.
After getting her Bachelors of Science from FIT, she continued to pursue her dance and figure skating career. She currently teaches and performs both ballroom and belly dance 6 days a week. Valerie performs belly dance all over New York City and the tri-state area for weekly shows, weddings, birthday parties, etc! She has started her own performance company called Valerinadance featuring Belly Dancing, Brazilian Samba, Flamenco, Ballroom/Latin, Fire dance, and much more. She has traveled as far as Cairo, Egypt and Lake Como, Italy for her dance performances! She has co-produced and co-choreographed belly dance events such as the “Belly Dance Brunch” as well as the “World Extravadanza” at the Highline Ballroom In New York City.
Valerie has also been competitively figure skating since the age of 11. She spent her summers training at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York. By 19, she had passed her gold level test in Moves in the Field, and continues to train and perform with Ice Theater of New York, and various other figure skating companies. She skated as an ice girl at Madison Square Garden for the NHL hockey team the New York Rangers for 2 years, then to skate for the New York Islanders at the Nassau Coliseum as an ice girl for another 3 years. She has recently performed in holiday shows and on ice fashion shows with Olympians such as Sarah Hughes, Emily Hughes, and Nancy Kerrigan.
Valerie continues to study, teach, and choreograph all of the dance styles and figure styles she has dedicated to life to learning!
